Tottenham could be losing up to £1million on every game as the wait for the new stadium continues, according to Richard Peters, the co-CEO of Stadia Solutions (h/t Sun).

Peters works alongside several Premier League, Scottish Premiership and Championship teams in the running of their stadiums, and listed how Spurs are being hit financially even though they are playing at Wembley.

The Stadia Solutions co-CEO told the Sun:

“Spurs will obviously have to pay the rent to Wembley and they’ll be losing their concourse and hospitality lounge advertising revenue.

“Together that will be costing them between £600,000 and £650,000 per game.

“And on top of that they may have to pay Wembley part of the ticket revenue, and hand over the food and beverage revenue.

“All that could easily add up to £1million per game.”

Peters highlighted the foods and drinks example by suggesting that every fan could spend an additional £5 or £10 (h/t Sun) during a match, the club would potentially lose out on somewhere between £300,000 and £600,000 (h/t Sun) of revenue.

Although the stadium has been delayed at least until 2019, Peters believes that opening the venue without any issues is the correct decision.

“It’s worth delaying the opening to get it right.

“First impressions do count – especially with the press there, social media and so forth.

“If fans can’t pay with their credit card, or the food’s not very good, or even if there’s just longer queues than they imagined, they will spoil a match day.”

Tottenham were to open the stadium in September against Liverpool but will instead stick with Wembley until the end of 2018.
