UEFA have stated that the Wembley pitch to host Inter Milan is fit, but sources say the governing body is unhappy by the look of the pitch, according to ESPN.
The fixture is a must win for Tottenham as anything less than the three points could would to missing out on the knockout phase of the Champions League.
The report adds that seven games have been held at the stadium across four weeks, with England playing a couple of ties and an NFL game also being played out.
The governing body is unhappy with the look and feel of the pitch which features bumps and patches of mud, as per the report.
A source told Reuters (h/t ESPN):
“The playability of the Champions League match, Tottenham-Inter, is not compromised.”
Inter are three points ahead of Tottenham in Group B and had defeated us 2-1 in the reverse fixture. We have to outdo that result and then also better Inter’s result in the final group game.
Our final game is against Barcelona at the Nou Camp, and the Catalans already have a 4-2 win to their name over Tottenham.
Spurs go into the game with a lot of confidence after their fantastic showing against Chelsea, and hopefully, we can use the condition of the pitch to our advantage.
