Manchester United would have to spend up to £40million to bring Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham and replace Jose Mourinho, according to the Sun.
The report claims that United only want Pochettino to replace their current manager and will wait till the summer to make the move.
Mourinho has a clause in his contract (h/t Sun) which claims that United would need to pay the manager less to sack him if they fail to reach the Champions League.
United have struggled for form this season and lie 8th in the Premier League, 8 points off a Champions League spot.
The report adds that United approached Pochettino to replace Louis van Gaal in 2016 but the Argentine had turned down the offer.
Our manager is one of the best in the world and recently signed a new contract to extend his stay at Tottenham. He has gotten the side to play some attractive football and we are currently third in the Premier League.
The report adds that Pochettino is adamant on taking us to the new stadium in the new year but is frustrated over the lack of signings in the summer.
