Tottenham rested Harry Kane ahead of a crucial Champions League encounter against Barcelona but had enough to get the three points at Leicester City.

Spurs were comfortable at the King Power Stadium and opened the scoring, thanks to an incredible effort from outside the box by Son Heung-min just before the half-time whistle.

We had other chances to extend the lead but the second goal came from Dele Alli in the 58th minute as he headed in following a lovely cross from the South Korean.

Given the day’s other results, we remained in third place and are just six points off the top of the table. The focus is firmly on the Barcelona tie. However, let us take a look at how our players performed against the Foxes.

Tottenham Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Lloris had little to do throughout. The Tottenham captain had a couple of comfortable saves to make. It won’t be this easy against Barcelona though.

Serge Aurier – 7/10

The Ivorian got the assist for Son’s opener but wasn’t great with the ball at his feet. He had to be replaced after picking up a slight injury.

Jan Vertonghen – 7.5/10

We will need our defence to be strong against the Catalans and Vertonghen did well at the back alongside his Belgian partner Toby Alderweireld.

Toby Alderweireld – 8/10

Alderweireld had a great game at the back making tackles and interceptions. The Belgian has to be at his best in a few days as we travel to the Nou Camp.

Ben Davies – 7/10

The Welshman did well in place of Danny Rose and was involved in the build up of the second goal.

Harry Winks – 7/10

The midfielder was on point as he kept us ticking along with his passing.

Eric Dier – 7/10

The Englishman walked a tightrope after picking up an early yellow and will have to be careful not to be taken apart when we play against Barcelona.

Moussa Sissoko – 7/10

The midfielder’s running game was great as he tried to break into the Leicester defence more often than not. Sissoko certainly looks a quality player now, and hopefully, keeps on improving.

Dele Alli – 8/10

The Englishman got his rewards with a goal in the second half. Alli has to be on song when we play Barcelona, and the goal should give him more confidence.

Son Heung min Tottenham

Son Heung-min – 9/10

Another brilliant showing from our South Korean as he scored a fantastic curling effort from outside the box to open the scoring. He got an assist for the second goal.

Lucas Moura – 6.5/10

Moura did a lot of running in the attacking third and had a hand in our second goal too. He wasn’t as influential in the game as we would have liked though.

Substitutes

Christian Eriksen – 6/10

Eriksen was brought in with 25 minutes or so left in the game.

Harry Kane – 6/10

The Englishman was given a few minutes ahead of the Barcelona tie.
