Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke about why Irish youngster Troy Parrott was a part of the team that travelled to face Leicester City.

Football.london reports that Parrott was the 19th man, and was ready to be named in the side should any of the 18 fail to participate at the King Power Stadium.

The striker was not the only youngster in the side as Oliver Skipp and Kyle Walker-Peters were part of the travelling party too.

The report adds that the 16-year-old Irish striker has been in great form for our youth sides. Pochettino was asked if Walker-Peters might play against Barcelona after Serge Aurier’s injury. The manager spoke about it and about a couple of other youngsters as well (h/t Football.london).

“I think he’s ready to play. All the players that we have in the squad, the younger ones like Oliver Skipp or Troy Parrott, who was involved today for the first time, it’s because they’re involved in the first team during days, during weeks, during months, and it’s only to give the possibility to play.

“I don’t doubt them and I am not worried about players who are injured or don’t perform in their best, because we have another who can replace them. I promise we are going to win or lose with one or another.”

The report adds that the Irish youngster has trained several times with the senior side and we have seen the manager give our youth players chances to impress.
