Calciomercato (h/t Mirror) claims that Tottenham are interested in Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena. The 23-year-old is also being tracked by AS Roma, according to Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Mirror) and the Italians are offering a swap deal with Rick Karsdorp going the other way.
Vilhena is a Netherlands international and already has 15 appearances for the senior side. The 23-year-old has 14 league appearances for Feyenoord this season, scoring two goals and supplying an assist.
The report adds that the midfielder is being seen as a replacement to Mousa Dembele. The Belgian is recovering from an ankle injury, but he could be allowed to leave on a free at the end of the season.
Vilhena could be a quality addition to the side, especially if we can get him on a free. Dembele has had his injury concerns during his time under Mauricio Pochettino, and we should be planning for a replacement.
Tottenham didn’t spend in the summer window but things have to change in January. We only have a trio of Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko that have played well this season in midfield. To compete at the higher echelons, we need more quality in that area of the pitch.

Victor Wanyama has also had his injury problems this season, and it will be interesting to see how we operate once the transfer window opens.
