Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that starlet Kyle Walker-Peters will not be sent out on loan in the winter window.
The 21-year-old played in our 1-1 draw against Barcelona and has been knocking on the door of the first-team for a couple of years.
The right-back didn’t have a great start to the Barcelona game as his mistake cost us the goal, but the manager claimed Walker-Peters is one of his “best options”.
The manager was asked if the Englishman was going to be loaned out, and replied (h/t ESPN):
“Now, no. Now, for me, he’s one of the best options.
“Like always, who deserves it more is going to play — you know me. I’m so happy with his performance.”
The manager then spoke about how players can make mistakes but was happy with the performance of the youngster.
“Look what happened against PSV with Toby [Alderweireld], or Juan Foyth on another day [against Arsenal], or the same with [Kieran] Trippier in the game [against] City or Barcelona. The same [with] Hugo [Lloris].
“All the players can struggle sometimes in some actions but the most important thing is to see the big picture, and he was very good.
“I wanted to protect him in the second half because he had a yellow card but I’m so happy and so proud of how he managed the pressure. I’m very pleased and I talk very highly of him.”

It will be interesting to see how many games the youngster does get this season. Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier are dealing with injuries, and it will be important for Walker-Peters to step up in case either right-back is out.
