Tottenham Hotspur have had a good start to the PL season so far winning 9 of the 12 games they have played. They are in pretty good shape at the moment, but in the coming January transfer window; they might lose one of their key players, the architect of their team, Christian Eriksen. Ladbrokes back the claim with a 2/5 odds against the Danish midfielder to join Real Madrid.
Rumours are spreading that the 26 year old playmaker is looking for a new challenge at a different league and both Barca and Real Madrid are on his tail (Talk sport). Christian Eriksen has been at Tottenham for five years now and he is looking for a change of club before his contract at Tottenham ends in 2020.
When he joined from AFC AJAX for a fee of €13.5 million, he came into the side with full of confidence and zest with a bright young mind. The five years that he has been there he has become one of the most important players in the team alongside Harry Kane. Tottenham can’t afford to lose him as he is instrumental for their aim at a top three four finish and to qualify for the champions league next season. There is no replacement as such for Eriksen if he leaves the club. The two attacking midfielders that they always play are Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen and if Eriksen leaves it would be a blow for the club as well as the morale.
Madrid are looking to swoop Eriksen after a difficult start to the season and looking at him as a permanent successor to Luka Modric. You can always look at these two and say they both play the game beautifully and that Eriksen has what it takes to reach the level of Luka Modric.
Tottenham are on a good run and as a club nobody would like their form being disrupted especially if you’re moving towards a goal. Christian Eriksen leaving would very much come in the way of their final goal, and cause quite a few difficulties on the team sheet just how Madrid are facing after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
If Madrid are very seriously pursuing Eriksen, then Spurs have to gear up and find an immediate replacement for him as they can’t afford to lose Eriksen and not have a replacement for his place in the team. This would cost them dearly and Pochettino would have to make some tough decisions.
