Tottenham avenged their North London derby loss from early in the season with a fantastic 2-0 win over Arsenal.
Son Heung-min opened the scoring in the 20th minute as he was sent clear by a great ball by Dele Alli. It was the Englishman who got the second in the 59th minute as substitute Harry Kane sent him through.
Alli’s finish was excellent as he lofted the ball over Petr Cech and made the game safe. Paulo Gazzaniga had a couple of quality saves to keep us in the game, and although Arsenal had their chances, we did well to make it into the semi-finals of the competition.
Son and Alli were brilliant, and here are the player ratings from the clash.
Paulo Gazzaniga – 8/10
The Argentine started in place of Hugo Lloris and made a couple of quality saves in the first half. Gazzaniga’s kicking wasn’t great but he played a role in Son’s goal, so not a bad outing.
Kieran Trippier – 7/10
The right-back’s crosses weren’t all that great and Alex Iwobi gave him a real test, but he did alright in defence.
Ben Davies – 7.5/10
The left-back was again deployed as a centre-back, and he did a decent enough job for us keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in check.
Toby Alderweireld – 8/10
Alderweireld was supreme at the back as he made a few interceptions and didn’t provide many chances to the Tottenham attackers.
Danny Rose – 7.5/10
This was a great performance from the Englishman as he linked up well with the attack and did his job down the left in defence too.
Moussa Sissoko – 7/10
The French midfielder had a great chance to score in the first half but blazed over the bar. The Frenchman did really well to break up the Arsenal play multiple times.
Harry Winks – 7/10
Winks did his normal routine of keeping the game ticking along well. The Englishman was at his best early on as we had more of the ball.
Lucas Moura – 6.5/10
The Brazilian had one excellent tackle to stop Henrikh Mkhitaryan from scoring. Moura wasn’t all that great in attack but was running his socks off.
Dele Alli – 8.5/10
The Englishman was excellent as he assisted one goal and scored one. Alli was also hit by a bottle later on but responded by simply showing the scoreline.
Christian Eriksen – 7/10
Eriksen had a couple of great chances to score but Cech saved well. The Dane even missed a chance after 10 minutes but it didn’t matter in the end.
Son Heung-min – 8/10
The South Korean scored smartly in the first half and was a problem for the Arsenal defence throughout the game.
Substitutes
Harry Kane – 7.5/10
The star got 30 minutes on the pitch against the Gunners and was instantly in the action with the pass for Alli to score.
