Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the Manchester United job after the sacking of Jose Mourinho (h/t Express).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the interim man in charge of the Red Devils, however, Ian McGarry believes the Argentine could remain at Tottenham despite the interest from a couple of clubs.

Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, McGarry highlighted the turmoil at both Real Madrid and United, and claimed there are a lot of things working in Pochettino’s favour at Tottenham (h/t Express):

“From everyone I have spoken to who knows him well, and I don’t claim to know Pochettino well personally, they say he is a very considered man about his career.

“He could have rushed into other jobs already, he could have taken a job before he left Southampton to go to Tottenham so he has got two other choices outside of his own job – Manchester United or Real Madrid.”

McGarry added that United and Madrid aren’t doing great in their respective leagues, with the Red Devils not certain of Champions League football next season.

“Neither club has any stability and Pochettino is only 46 so he has a long time left in his career.

“He can go to those clubs at a different point, he doesn’t have to rush into it now. I wonder if he’s thinking ‘why should I leave Spurs?’

“The new stadium will be built soon etcetera and he has got a team there that he has effectively built himself.”

The football expert hits the nail on the head as this Tottenham side is Pochettino’s through and through. The Argentine has been a wonder for the club and it would be painful to lose him.

United and Madrid are shambles at the moment and it would be a major surprise if Pochettino decides to jump ship.
