Tottenham have “tabled” an offer for Adrien Rabiot, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express). The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season at Paris Saint-Germain and is free to join another club.
The report adds that Rabiot wants pay parity with Marco Verratti at the French club. The Italian earns around £133,000-a-week and the report claims that Barcelona is also a possible destination for the 23-year-old.
The Frenchman is an exciting talent and would do a brilliant job for the Spurs team, but Chelsea have also made a bid for Rabiot, as per the report.
There is interest from Arsenal too (h/t Express) with Unai Emery having worked with the midfielder during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Arsenal striker and ESPN pundit Paul Mariner believes Rabiot would be a good fit for Spurs (h/t Express):
“Do Tottenham need him? Absolutely they need him. Should they have tried to get him earlier? Yes they should.”
Tottenham have had their injury problems with midfielders this season and have just Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp fit for the packed festive period.
Spurs didn’t make a signing in the summer window but need to bring quality in the January transfer window.
We sit just six points behind league leaders Liverpool, and the right signings could push the team closer to the top.
