Mauricio Pochettino believes that this Tottenham side can be title contenders if they maintain their form throughout the campaign. Spurs produced one of the performances of the season when they hammered Everton 6-2 at Goodison Park.

The win put us six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and just two behind Manchester City. Speaking after the game, the Argentine claimed that our consistency is the key to a good season (h/t Mirror):

“Football is about being consistent, if we are able to be consistent and play in the way we played tonight, yes, maybe we will arrive in April as a real contender.

“I am proud of the way we played. I am so pleased and very proud of the performance and energy we showed today. I am pleased about the result, but of course the performance comes first.”

Pochettino added a word of caution though, as the team is involved in several competitions. The manager was also a bit surprised by the result given that we played a tough game against Arsenal in midweek.

The Argentine claimed Liverpool and City were the favourites for the title but said that there are a number of other sides in the running.

“I still believe Liverpool and Manchester City are the real contenders and favourites to win the Premier League. We are there but (so are) Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.”

Pochettino finished by suggesting that we have to take it one game at a time and aim to win every game we play.

Spurs have a couple of home games during the festive period and hopefully, we can take advantage of any slip-ups from the top two.
