Tottenham target Josh Maja would be available for a cut-price fee of £1.5million in the January window, according to the Mirror.
The English striker has 12 League One goals this season as the Black Cats look to return to the Championship. Maja is a free agent at the end of the campaign and can discuss terms with a foreign club when the winter window opens.
The report adds that the 19-year-old moving to a foreign club would only provide Sunderland with a small fee according to FIFA’s compensation rules and the Black Cats believe that the best option to get a decent amount for the 19-year-old is to sell him in January.
The striker was benched in the recent 3-1 loss to Portsmouth, with the report claiming that he was dropped due to his future being uncertain.
The 19-year-old and Sunderland haven’t been able to agree on a new deal and it will be interesting to see if the talented youngster does move to the Premier League in January.
Southampton and Manchester City are also interested in the English youngster (h/t Mirror) and for £1.5million, Maja could be a decent signing for a Premier League side.
The youngster could provide some cover for Harry Kane but having not played at the top level yet, there is a huge degree of risk with this signing.
