Mauricio Pochettino wants Tottenham’s new stadium to have a similar atmosphere to Anfield, which will give the players an extra boost.

The Argentine was speaking ahead of the clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers and explained how the atmosphere at Liverpool’s ground pushes the players on (h/t ESPN):

“You can feel, like yesterday when I saw the highlights from Anfield, that the fans are desperate to win and they’re showing their support to the team.

“Yesterday Anfield was amazing. Every game Liverpool play at Anfield is a party and that sometimes makes the difference.”

The manager further spoke about the effort taken from the Tottenham fans to cheer the team on at Wembley, even though there are several empty seats.

“We cannot ask more from our fans, I think they’re doing a fantastic job.

“The circumstances are against not only the team and the club but against our fans, because it wasn’t easy to get to Wembley [on Boxing Day for the 5-0 win against Bournemouth]. There were lots of problems to arrive on public services.”

Pochettino also lamented that Wembley has seen a restriction in seats as Spurs can only fill 51,000 seats while the stadium can hold close to 90,000 (h/t ESPN).

The Argentine claimed that he wanted to move to the new stadium this season itself and believed the fans would be able to help the team there.

The new stadium would certainly provide a homely feel to the fans and the players and it would be great if we can shift to our new home before this season ends.
