With the January transfer window up and running, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to sign Jarred Bowen from Hull City (h/t Sky Sports). The youngster has enjoyed a scintillating spell with the Championship outfit this season. As a result, the club value him at £20m, which is quite a steep fee for a player like him.
However, the winger is immensely talented and he could have surely boosted our attacking unit had the move materialized. But if Mauricio Pochettino’s words are anything to go by, it looks like we need to forget about getting our hands the pacy attacker.
Speaking to the media ahead of our third round FA Cup clash against Tranmere Rovers, Pochettino was quizzed about the links (h/t Football London). In true Poch style, our manager said:
“The first time I heard [about] him was yesterday or before yesterday. I heard for the first time yesterday this name. It’s like many names that appear in the media – rumours.
“There’s many interested in this business. How many players are today in the media that are related with Tottenham, and have been in the past? Be careful because hundreds of players were related with the club and then never happened. I think my answer is so clear.”
With 11 goals in 26 games, Bowen has been nothing short of a revelation this season. And it comes as no surprise Hull City value him so highly.
To be fair, Bowen would definitely not be a part of our immediate first-team since he does lack experience at the top level. But given the rate at which he has been progressing, he could have been an excellent addition for us this month.

Regardless, let’s hope that the options we have at our disposal are enough to help us reach greater heights and glory at the end of the campaign.
