Tottenham are eyeing Elif Elmas of Fenerbahce as they see the Macedonian youngster as the perfect long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele (h/t Calciomercato).
The 19-year-old midfielder hasn’t played too many first-team games for the Turkish giants this season but has attracted attention from several European clubs. The report adds that Lazio see the youngster as a replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic while Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Borussia Dortmund are also in the chase for the 19-year-old and have money to spend after selling Christian Pulisic to Chelsea (h/t Calciomercato).
The youngster is of Turkish descent but has come through the ranks at Macedonia and represents the country at the highest level.
Dembele doesn’t have a great fitness record and only recently recovered from a nasty ankle injury he picked up a couple of months ago.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino claimed he did not know about the Belgian’s future given that Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season.
Spurs could do with more options in the midfield as we have been hit by injuries to several players. Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have all been on the injured list alongside Dembele throughout the season, and Pochettino has had to play Oliver Skipp in a few games. The youngster has done well for Tottenham, with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko also being regulars in the side.
Elmas might not go straight into the starting XI but Pochettino would be the perfect manager to develop the youngster into a world beater.
