The BBC reports that Mousa Dembele is close to an £11m move to Chinese club Beijing Guoan.
The 31-year-old picked up an ankle injury a couple of months ago against Wolverhampton Wanderers and did not play for Tottenham since.
The report claims that there could be more players leaving Spurs in the coming weeks as Daniel Levy trims Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Dembele was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, but his fitness was always a worry for Tottenham.
The Belgian joined Spurs from Fulham in 2012 and his best moment for his country came during the World Cup in the summer.
Dembele helped the side finish third in the competition, and there is no doubt his quality will be missed in the Spurs team.
The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and this deal makes a lot of sense since we would be making a sizeable amount from the Belgian.
Spurs have also seen the rise of Harry Winks in recent seasons, and this campaign we have Oliver Skipp to count on.
The youngster picked up some quality minutes in the past week or so, and it will be interesting to see if we add some players to the side in January.
Many Spurs fans weren’t quite sure about Dembele leaving given several injuries, and here are their reactions to the deal from Twitter.
£11m is decent, hopefully be able to sign a replacement. Doucoure for me 🙏🏻 COYS

Will be sad to see him go. He’s been an amazing player for us

We have zero cover, Wanyama injured, Dier injured and I sense he will be moved to CB when Toby leaves, Winks and Sissoko that’s it

When he was at his best there was no one better at what he does but injuries have taken their toll and I don’t think he is going to rediscover that form again #coys

Ridiculous if we sell him and don’t replace him at this stage of the season. They probably see Skipp as his replacement but that is not good enough right now

£11m for a broken player with 6 months left on his contract? That’s amazing. Dembele has been brilliant if erratic for us but it’s best for every one he leaves.
