Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente is a target for his former club Athletic Bilbao. The Spaniard has struggled for regular minutes at Spurs since his move from Swansea, and the Bilbao club director wants to sign a few players.
Rafa Alkorta was speaking on Cadena Ser (h/t Sky Sports) as he listed some players the club were interested in:
“We are interested in Javi Martinez, Ibai Gomez, Ander Herrera, Fernando Llorente… all of them interest us.”
Bilbao have a policy of signing players from the Basque region and Llorente enjoyed a successful time with the Spanish side before he had stints at Juventus and Swansea.
The 33-year-old scored a hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup, but hasn’t done well in the Premier League for Spurs.
The forward also finds time hard to come by in the first-team given the form of Harry Kane. Son Heung-min has also done a fantastic job as our second striker in some games, and it would make sense for us to sell the Spaniard, as long as there is some cover for the England captain.
The Spaniard got a few minutes in our 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, and he could be the right person to save Bilbao from the drop.
The report claims that Alkorta wants experienced players to join the La Liga side, and Llorente could be a decent signing for them.
