Tottenham might have lost 1-0 to Manchester United on Sunday, but there concern from the Spurs medical team after the final whistle.
Harry Kane sat on the pitch holding his ankle after a last-second tackle from Phil Jones. The Englishman limped off the turf and Mauricio Pochettino was worried about the damage to the striker (h/t Mirror):
“My worry is that it was a bad tackle in the last moment. It wasn’t the intention of the United player but it was a bad tackle and now he has bit of a swelling on his ankle and he was limping after the game.
“We’ll see what happens with Kane. He suffered a big tackle and twisted his ankle. We need to assess him.”
Losing Kane would be a huge blow to Spurs given that Son Heung-min is off to the United Arab Emirates for the Asian Cup.
Spurs would have just Fernando Llorente as the senior striker, but Vincent Janssen is getting back to fitness after missing a major chunk of the season.
Kane is one of the best in the world, and replacing him in our line-up would be a tall order.
The Englishman had some great chances to beat David de Gea, but the Spaniard was incredible between the sticks.
We can’t afford to have Kane on the sidelines for too long, and it is going to be a tense wait until we learn of the extent of the injury.
