Tottenham are interested in Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong and will move for the Dutch starlet should they lose Christian Eriksen, according to the Mirror.
The report claims that the Dane is wanted by Real Madrid, who are willing to spend £100million for the 26-year-old. Eriksen has told his agent that he would only leave Spurs for a top Spanish club, and Barcelona are also interested in Spurs star as per the report.
Tottenham aren’t the only ones interested in De Jong, with Paris Saint-Germain willing to splash £67million on the 21-year-old, according to the Mirror.
The report adds that Manchester City were keeping tabs on the player while Juventus and Barcelona seem to be long shots in signing him. Tottenham have a history of signing players from Ajax, with Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez joining the team in recent years.
Toby Alderweireld is also an Ajax product but he did not join directly from the Dutch giants. The report claims that Spurs have contacted the agent of De Jong, Ali Dursun, and have guaranteed him that they will match the highest bid for the 21-year-old.
Replacing Eriksen will be tough even though De Jong is one of the biggest talents in world football. The Dane has become one of the best in the world at Tottenham and brings a lot of quality to the side.

Our activity in the summer will be important if we are to take the next step and hopefully, we keep hold of Eriksen for a few more years.
