Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has claimed that qualifying for the Champions League is the main objective for the side.
Spurs’ hopes of catching Liverpool at the top of the table were handed a blow thanks to defeats against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United.
Lloris wanted the team to stay consistent for the rest of the campaign and warned about the threat from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United (h/t Evening Standard):
“We are still involved in four competitions but the main thing is to finish in the top four.
“We have said that from the beginning and we have not changed our mind.
“Of course, everyone is talking about the teams in front of us, but it is important to keep an eye on the teams behind because in football things can change very quickly.
“It is important to stay consistent and focus on the main things.”
We seemed certain to make it to the Champions League next season but things have taken a huge turn in the past couple of weeks.
Manchester United’s win over us means the Red Devils and Arsenal are just seven points behind us while Chelsea are just a single point beneath us.
Lloris is correct in claiming that we have to be consistent and the loss against Wolves hurt more than the one against United.
We dominated the Red Devils but lost thanks to David de Gea’s incredible saves, however, there was bad news for us as Harry Kane picked up what looked like a serious injury.
Son Heung-min left for the Asian Cup and Moussa Sissoko was another player that limped off in the defeat against the Red Devils.
