Son Heung-min left Tottenham to participate in the Asian Cup, and the South Korean helped the nation to a 2-0 win over China to qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.
The attacker captained the Asian side in the win and even bagged an assist against the Chinese.
The forward played in our 1-0 loss to Manchester United, and we are severely short of quality striking options after Harry Kane’s injury.
The Englishman is expected to be out till March, and only Fernando Llorente is the senior option we have with Vincent Janssen a forgotten man.
Son has been in excellent form for Spurs having bagged 11 goals and notching up five assists in all competitions so far.
The forward could be away from Tottenham till the start of February and misses some important games such as the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea.
Son’s trip to the United Arab Emirates would not have hurt much had Kane not been injured, and there were many Spurs fans who were upset over South Korea qualifying for the next round of the competition.
Elimination from the tournament would mean a quick return for Son, and some fans shared their disappointed as one of our stars remains away from for a few more days.
