Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes Tottenham should hijack Chelsea’s move for Gonzalo Higuain.

Spurs face an injury crisis as Harry Kane is ruled out till mid-March after ankle ligament damage in the 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

Son Heung-min is also out for a couple of weeks at the most as he plays in the Asian Cup. Kane’s injury would mean he won’t play some important clashes for Spurs such as the Champions League games against Borussia Dortmund and Premier League ties against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Chelsea, for their part, are in the market for a striker (h/t Express) and are interested in signing Higuain who is on loan at AC Milan.

Maurizio Sarri has managed the Argentine during their time at Napoli, but Jordan wanted Spurs to move for the forward while speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express):

“If I was in their shoes I’d be looking at Higuain or someone of that nature – try to hijack that deal.

“I would take him on loan rather than go knee-jerk ‘we need to jump into the market now and buy a player’.”

The former Palace chairman believed Daniel Levy would not make a knee-jerk decision and will try to find a rational solution to the problem.

There isn’t anyone who can replace Kane in the team, but we need a striker who can chip in with a few goals. Higuain might be a decent striker but moving to a more physical league would be a real test for the Argentine.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid man has struggled for goals this season, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs make a move and sign a striker in the coming weeks.
