Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Harry Kane’s injury does not change Tottenham’s plans for the winter transfer window.
The England striker picked up an ankle injury in the loss to Manchester United and is ruled out for a couple of months. We could do with another striker coming in but Pochettino wants to give time to some of our younger players.
The Argentine was quoted saying (h/t Sun):
“It didn’t change, all that happened with Harry.”
The manager added that even with Son Heung-min away on Asian Cup duty it was going to be tough to bring in the right kind of player during the window.
Pochettino further claimed that the injury did not change the mind of the team, and this was the perfect chance for the youngsters to shine.
“It didn’t change our mind, I think it’s a very good opportunity for players to play more, to step up.
“I’m sure it’s going to be a good opportunity for young players through the academy to show their quality.”
The manager concluded by claiming that they have a squad to deal with injuries, and have the belief Tottenham can beat any side in the world. Replacing Kane would be a mammoth task but we could have done with a striker playing for a couple of months.
