Tottenham are interested in Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen (h/t Express) and Calcioland podcast host David Amoyal believes the Danish centre-back will be leaving the club soon.

The 22-year-old has been impressive for the Serie A side and Amoyal believes several Premier League clubs are tracking the defender (h/t Express):

“Joachim Andersen is the standout centre-back and one of the revelations in Serie A this season.”

Amoyal saw Andersen as a player that could join Napoli, Roma or Inter Milan if the trio were to lose one of their top centre-backs.

The podcast host believed a Premier League club could come in and swoop for the player and Sampdoria could be easier to deal with than the other three big teams:

“So maybe a Premier League club decides to just cut the middle man out and pursues him now.

“He’s probably more available, I think Sampdoria would love to keep him for the rest of the season but if a big offer came in, I think they’re much more likely to budge than the other clubs.”

Tottenham were the only Premier League club not to spend in the summer, but we could do with some defensive reinforcements given that Toby Alderweireld could leave on the cheap in the summer.

The Belgian’s current deal was extended by a year but that includes a summer release clause of £25m (h/t Guardian). Jan Vertonghen isn’t getting any younger and we could do with more cover for the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth.
