Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane has been named as the 2018 England Men’s Player of the Year.
The FA released a statement which added that the English striker won the award for the second straight year, and what a year he had with the Three Lions.
Kane led the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and ended the tournament as the leading the scorer.
The 25-year-old also helped England reach the semis of the first UEFA Nations League which will be held later in the year.
The Englishman is possibly the best striker in the world and had been on a great run for the club before picking up an ankle injury while ruled him out till March.
Kane was pleased with picking up the award and said (h/t FA.com):
“To be voted England’s best player for the second successive year is something I’m immensely proud of.
“After such a monumental year, this award has particular significance as it’s always an honour to be recognised by the people that count the most – the fans.”
The Tottenham star also thanked his teammates, the manager and the England staff for all the support last year.
Kane also spoke about doing well in the qualifiers for the 2020 Euros and the Nations League finals.
It is a bit of a blow losing Kane at this part of the season, but the striker is only getting better with time at Spurs.
The Englishman had a fantastic season for England, and hopefully, he finishes this campaign with Tottenham with a trophy or two.
