Lucas Moura celebrates for Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura could be fit for the Carabao Cup second leg semi-final clash against Chelsea on Thursday.

The Brazilian hasn’t played for Tottenham since the 7-0 hammering of Tranmere in the FA Cup, and Spurs could do with the former PSG player returning to the side.

Pochettino lost Dele Alli to a hamstring injury in the win over Fulham, and Spurs will be without Son Heung-min and Harry Kane for the clash against the Blues.

The manager provided a positive update on Moura where he added the Brazilian could start against the Blues (h/t Metro):

“I hope that Lucas Moura is going to be good. He was training today at the training ground but today we didn’t want to take a risk with him so we will wait until he is 100 per cent.

“Maybe for the bench, maybe he will start the game.”

The 26-year-old has blown hot and cold this season and has eight goals for us in all competitions. Even if Moura is not 100% we might have to play him given the paucity of attacking options in the team.

Fernando Llorente led the line in the win over Fulham, but the Spaniard seemed off and even scored an own goal.

Erik Lamela could do a decent job up top, but Moura has experience of playing as a forward from his time at PSG, and hopefully, he is fit enough to bag some goals on Thursday against Maurizio Sarri’s side.
