Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup by one of their old boys in Andros Townsend. The former Spurs winger scored the second goal for Palace, via a penalty, as we exited a second cup competition in a matter of four days.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were beaten by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and we were knocked out of the Carabao Cup semi-finals by Chelsea a few days prior to that.
The 27-year-old didn’t have a prolific time at Tottenham but has been a quality addition to Crystal Palace. Townsend scored against Manchester City and Liverpool this season but did not celebrate the goal against Spurs.
This caught the eye on one fan who criticised Townsend for not celebrating the goal. The English winger was not going to take this lying down and claimed he had a ton of respect for his former employers. The Englishman even listed out the number of caps he had for Spurs.
Try 93 games and being there for 16 years from the age of 8 till 24…. it’s called a bit of respect to the club that made me mate ✊ https://t.co/JkVQsPv93m

This certainly caught the attention of several Spurs fans who came out and praised the 27-year-old. The Englishman was one of the best wingers a few years ago and has even picked up 13 England caps.
The Palace man certainly seemed to have the backing of many supporters, and some Tottenham fans were more than willing to re-sign the Englishman given our injury problems.
Fully respected Andros. Fair play today #yido

Well played Andros. Palace deserved the win and massive doff of the hat to you re the pen and not celebrating. It was genuine too. I could see it was conflicting emotions for you. You beat us fair and square on the day. Best of luck in next round.
