Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Son Heung-min could play a part in our midweek fixture against Watford despite just returning from national duty.
The South Korean was participating in the Asian Cup but the journey was cut short after a shock quarter-final defeat to Qatar. Son missed the last three games for Spurs as we exited the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and Pochettino claimed the 26-year-old is running on fumes (h/t Daily Mail):
“On Sunday we were with him on the training ground in the morning. He’s so tired, he played three games. Very tough games.
“Of course not too much energy on Sunday, but we hope he’ll be available and ready on Wednesday to help the team.”
This will come as great news for Tottenham after a few poor results recently. Son could be on the bench against the Hornets and hopefully, we get back to winning ways.
Spurs are without Harry Kane and Dele Alli until March, and the onus of leading the line could fall on the shoulders of the South Korean. The attacker was in great form before he left for the Asian Cup and hopefully, he returns to goalscoring form for Spurs soon enough.
The 26-year-old has scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists in the Premier League this season, however, he is yet to score in the Champions League.
Tottenham also have a couple of Champions League clashes against Borussia Dortmund and we play Arsenal and Chelsea between the two games against the Bundesliga giants.
