Tottenham have been dealt a transfer blow as Adrien Rabiot rejected a move to London since he prefers Liverpool, according to Paris United (h/t Metro).
The 23-year-old Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and has refused to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain, as per the report.
The midfielder has been banished to the reserves at the French club, and a move to Barcelona seems to have stalled with the signing of Frenkie de Jong, according to the Metro.
The report adds that Tottenham were willing to provide Rabiot with a huge contract and signing on fee. Mauricio Pochettino even spoke with the midfielder while former PSG stars Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier tried to get him onboard (h/t Metro).
However, all our moves seem to have failed, with the Frenchman looking at Liverpool. The report adds that Rabiot is a fan of former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and also likes Jurgen Klopp’s management.
Spurs have been decimated by injuries this season with Harry Kane and Dele Alli out until March. Son Heung-min should return shortly after his Asian Cup journey while we are a little thin on midfielders after selling Mousa Dembele to Guangzhou R&F in the winter window.
Tottenham could do with some fresh faces coming in as our season is slowly unravelling. Spurs exited the Carabao Cup at the hands of Chelsea, and our FA Cup journey also came to an end with a defeat at Crystal Palace.
