Dutch football journalist Marcel Van Der Kraan has revealed that Tottenham are finding it difficult to sell out-of-favour striker Vincent Janssen. The forward was signed from AZ Alkmaar but failed to match his goalscoring exploits for the Eredivisie side. Janssen was sent on loan to Fenerbahce last season, but the forward struggled for goals and games due to injuries.
The 24-year-old is back to full fitness at Tottenham and Van Der Kraan was speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast where he claimed he had spoken to Janssen’s agent.
Van Der Kraan also claimed that the player wasn’t happy with the loan deal earlier and could have shared his frustrations with the club (h/t Daily Star):
“He’s back on the road now. He’s fit, he’s in a good frame of mind. I spoke to his agent and I think they’re looking for a quick move in this winter.
“Mr Levy wants to recoup as much money for Vincent Janssen as he can and at this moment there are a lot of takers, a lot of clubs, but all of them want to take him on a loan and they do not want to pay £12m, £14m, £16m for a player who’s only played four games in 18 months.”
Tottenham have preferred to start with Fernando Llorente in place of the injured Harry Kane even though we have a fit and available Janssen at the club.
The lack of interest from other clubs to signing him permanently is a bit of a problem, and we might have to bite the bullet and let him leave on loan with a view to a permanent move later on. The 24-year-old could come good at another club and it would be great for his career if he gets regular playing time.

Tottenham have already seen Mousa Dembele leave the side in the winter window and with Janssen not in our plans, it would be great to have him off the books soon.
