Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express) reports that Torino have shut the door on Tottenham as we looked to sign Soualiho Meite.
The French midfielder joined Torino from Monaco and has been a regular for the Serie A giants. Meite plays as a central midfielder and can do a job a little further ahead too. The 24-year-old has racked up 18 appearances in the league this season with two goals and an assist to his name.
The report adds that Spurs made an early approach for the midfielder, but Torino are not entertaining offers for any of their players.
AS Roma were also interested in the talented Frenchman, and the report adds that Arsenal’s attempts to sign Nicolas Nkoulou were also thwarted by the Serie A side.
Tottenham are in need of fresh faces and this was the latest player being linked with a move to London. Spurs are a little short on midfielders, having sold Mousa Dembele in the winter window.
Eric Dier has only just returned from an appendix problem while Mauricio Pochettino has had to play Oliver Skipp in some of the games. We have been a little fortunate, thanks to the form of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks as the pair has performed extremely well this season.
Although a signing could have eased some of our concerns, it seems unlikely that we will bring anyone before the start of next season.

We do need signings and it remains to be seen if we sign anyone before the transfer deadline today.
