Son Heung-min hailed Tottenham’s character after a string of late victories. The South Korean has scored a couple of goals since his return from the Asian Cup, leading to wins for Tottenham.
Son found the back of the net in the 2-1 win over Watford and scored the only goal of the game against Newcastle United.
Both efforts came on or after the 80th minute, and Spurs defeated Fulham, thanks to a 93rd-minute winner from Harry Winks. The achievement is remarkable given that we are playing without two of the best in the world, Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
The pair is out injured until March, however, Son claimed that the team has to be patient when facing quality teams such as Newcastle (h/t Telegraph):
“I think patience was very important. Against such a team it is very difficult to score goals but we had a very good mentality, we were patient and at the right time we found the solution.”
The South Korean added that the team needs to believe they can score at any time:
“Sometimes you score so easily but it can change. We did it on Wednesday [against Watford] and we did it again today. It shows great character.”
Tottenham’s next game is against Leicester City on Sunday. The Foxes won’t be easy to beat, but our resilience is certainly something to count on for the remainder of the season.
