Tottenham have been handed a major boost ahead of their clash against Leicester City as Marc Albrighton will miss the game at Wembley. The English winger has played 22 times for the Foxes in the Premier League this season with two goals and two assists to his name.

However, the 29-year-old will not face Spurs and his manager revealed that the winger is out for the rest of the season. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Claude Puel added that Albrighton requires hamstring surgery (h/t Football.london):

“We know the injury to Marc Albrighton. He has had a serious hamstring injury and it’s bad news for us, for the team. He will not available until the end of the season.

“Normally it would be a surgery for him. It’s longer than just a hamstring injury. He will have surgery.”

The 29-year-old is a handful for any defence, and it will be a bit of a relief that our back-line won’t have to deal with him. Leicester are not easy opposition and have beaten Chelsea and Manchester City this season.

Tottenham have to keep picking up the wins in the coming weeks to put pressure on the top two. We cannot take any game lightly. Spurs will be without a host of players too as Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Vincent Janssen, Dele Alli and Ben Davies are recovering from various problems.

However, Mauricio Pochettino recently claimed that Kane could make a quick return and play against Burnley later in February.
