Mauricio Pochettino has told that he does not have an update on Christian Eriksen’s contract situation at Tottenham. The Danish midfielder is one of the best in the world but his contract expires in 18 months.
Football.london reports that the Dane hasn’t signed a new deal with Spurs and that he has also garnered attention from La Liga giants Real Madrid. Pochettino did not share good news regarding the Dane (h/t Football.london):
“No news. Everything is in the same place as months ago.”
The 26-year-old hasn’t been in prolific form for Tottenham this season, but his campaign has been hampered by injuries. Not to forget, he also participated in the World Cup, which really cut short his pre-season before the season began.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old is a vital cog in the Tottenham team and we need to do everything in our power to keep the Dane. Eriksen has scored 7 goals and provided 10 assists for Poch’s side in all competitions this season.
The 26-year-old would be difficult to replace at Tottenham and could develop into an even better player under our manager in the coming years.
Spurs have been able to extend the deals of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli in recent months, and it will be interesting to see if we can finalise a new contract for Eriksen before the end of the campaign.
