Hugo Lloris hasn’t had the greatest of seasons for Tottenham despite having won the World Cup in the summer. The 32-year-old had a brief run-in with the law after he was arrested for drink-driving early in the season, and has also had his injury problems.
Paulo Gazzaniga did a good job during Lloris’ absence, but the Frenchman is still one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. That was on display in our hard-fought 3-1 win over Leicester City earlier in the day.
The pressure was on Spurs to get the points and keep the pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool. However, Leicester were in no mood to make things easy as they dominated the early proceedings. Lloris kept them out early and Davinson Sanchez scored his first goal for the side.
The Frenchman did a brilliant job in saving a Jamie Vardy penalty and a one-on-one chance from Harvey Barnes in the second half.
Lloris couldn’t do much to keep Vardy from scoring late in the game but he commanded the box well and ensured we came out with all three points. This wasn’t a great performance but we need to keep winning until the end of the season. The Foxes deserved something from the game, but the best teams get the results even if they don’t play at their best.
Lloris certainly was one of the stars from the win over the Foxes, and several Tottenham fans praised the Frenchman for his performance.
