Latest Tottenham news: Spurs supporters go crazy after Super Jan’s performance
Tottenham beat Borussia Dortmund 3-0 and the performance proved that we are ready for big things in Europe. Last season was a bit of a downer after an excellent group stage as we were knocked out by Juventus. The Italians might have been better than us for just 30 minutes of the 180, but Dortmund were put to the sword, thanks to our clinical finishing.
Dortmund had the better chances in the first half but after Son Heung-min scored the opener in the second, and it was all Tottenham after that. Fernando Llorente got the third to cap off the night, however, the man on fire was Jan Vertonghen.
The defender’s crosses were incredible throughout the game. Super Jan found Son for the opener and scored a volley running down the left to give us a precious two-goal advantage before Llorente put the icing on the cake.
The Belgian might not be seen playing regularly down the left, but he could easily be the best defender in the Premier League at the moment. The job for Tottenham isn’t complete by any stretch, but we have a fantastic chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition.
Vertonghen was one of the stars on show at Wembley on Wednesday, and several fans praised the Belgian for his performance.
Getting better and better with age, and shouldn’t be brushed under the carpet just how consistent this guy has been in a Spurs shirt for a number of years now, so reliable and shown himself to also be as good at left-back as what he is at centre-half.
