Latest Tottenham news: Borussia Dortmund handed injury boost ahead of Champions League second leg

Borussia Dortmund could have Manuel Akanji fit for the second leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie against Tottenham.

Spurs demolished the Bundesliga giants 3-0 in the first league, however, Akanji has returned to training after picking up an injury in December (h/t Football.london).

The Swiss defender was speaking on Dortmund’s YouTube channel (h/t Football.london) claiming he could be back on the pitch soon.

“I’m really good.

“I participated in two training sessions. The first one was last was last Sunday and the second after the Champions League match in London.”

The 23-year-old was impressive in the first half of the season, and it will be interesting to see if he starts in the second leg on 5 March.

Dortmund have a lot to do

Tottenham’s 3-0 win should give them the confidence of going to Dortmund and ensuring qualification into the next leg.

The Germans missed a few key players in the 3-0 thumping at Wembley, and Football.london adds that Christian Pulisic will not play the second leg against Spurs.

The American winger, who will join Chelsea in the summer, suffered a torn muscular fibre and will miss the all-important clash.
