Tottenham transfer news: Spurs’ chase of Joachim Andersen impacts Manchester United transfer plans
Manchester United are interested in Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, but the Independent (h/t Express) claims that Tottenham are close to the Danish defender.
Spurs have already made contact regrading the 22-year-old centre-back, and the report claims that United will now look at other centre-backs in the summer.
The report adds that the Red Devils have other Serie A defenders on their wish list and losing out on the Dane would be a huge blow for United as they would have to spend more for their other targets.
Tottenham didn’t sign any players in the last two transfer windows but Andersen could be a decent player for the future.
Young blood in the defence
The 22-year-old has been the star for Sampdoria’s defence over the past season, and it is interesting we are targetting another young defender for the club.
The Danish centre-back has played 23 times in the Serie A this season and has helped them remain in mid-table.
Spurs already have the impressive Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth in the ranks, and the pair have done well this season when called upon.
We need to plan for a future without Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld as they are ageing, and hopefully, Andersen turns out to be a quality signing under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have done exceptionally well without any new signings over the last two windows and recently beat Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.
