Tottenham transfer news: Real Madrid consider using Gareth Bale as bargaining chip for Christian Eriksen

Marca (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Real Madrid are considering selling Welsh winger Gareth Bale after the attacker failed to fill Cristiano Ronaldo’s shoes.

The Portuguese attacker left the Spaniards to join Juventus in the off-season and has flourished at the Italian giants.

The report adds that Bale could be sold in the summer with the Madrid giants using the player in a deal to sign either Christian Eriksen or Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

Youngster Vinicius Junior has taken over from the Welshman in the starting XI, and the report claims he has been left frustrated with the current situation.

The 29-year-old has had his problems with injuries too, and the report adds he still has time to change things at the club and is keen on remaining in Madrid.

Other possible destinations for Bale

The report adds that should Bale leave, he could even end up at Manchester United and Chelsea. Tottenham is seen as an unlikely destination given our inability to spend huge amounts in the transfer window.

The Welshman had a great time at Spurs and would have made a decent signing, however, we could be outbid by the likes of Chelsea and United for the 29-year-old.

Tottenham have to do everything in their power to keep Christian Eriksen and we need to extend his contract at the club.

The Dane is one of the best players in the world and swapping him for Bale now doesn’t really make a lot of sense, even if Madrid throw in a few million.
