Tottenham transfer news: Tottenham could move for Steven N’Zonzi if Arsenal falter
Calciomercatonews (h/t Sun) reports that Tottenham could move for AS Roma midfielder Steven N’Zonzi should Arsenal fail in their attempts to sign the Frenchman.
The report claims that the Gunners are looking at signing Monchi from Roma as the head of their recruitment department.
Should Monchi move to London, Arsenal would try to sign the 30-year-old. The midfielder joined the Italian side after impression in Sevilla while Monchi was director of the Spanish side.
The report claims that should Monchi not join the Gunners, it would leave the door open for Spurs.
N’Zonzi has impressed in the Premier League
The report adds that N’Zonzi is happy to return to the Premier League. The Frenchman did well at Blackburn before impressing at Stoke City.
He moved to Sevilla after three quality seasons with Stoke City and was part of the France team that lifted the World Cup in the summer.
The 30-year-old can do a great job in midfield but it is interesting to see us being linked with him now. The report claims that Roma would want to recover as much as possible after spending £25million on the midfielder.
Tottenham also have several options in the midfield with the likes of Oliver Skipp making it from the academy and getting minutes this season.

Also, signing a 30-year-old doesn’t provide us with a lot of longevity, and our transfer activity in the summer will be important as we look to build on a decent season so far.
