Latest Tottenham news: Tottenham plan two test events for new stadium in March

The Evening Standard claims that Tottenham are planning to host two test events on 16 and 23 March in the new stadium.

The report adds that Tottenham has to hold two successful test events with increasing capacities to attain a safety certificate from the FA.

Tottenham don’t have any fixtures between 9 and 31 March since Crystal Palace’s progress in the FA Cup postponed the clash which was to be held on 17 March.

The report adds that one of the test events could be an academy fixture, and should Tottenham successful conduct the events, we could open the new stadium on 6 April against Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, that game could be rearranged too should the Seagulls beat Millwall to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The next home game for us would be against Huddersfield on 13 April. The Evening Standard further claims that Premier League officials want Tottenham to host at least five home games at the new stadium this season or remain at Wembley till the campaign ends.

Training session as the first stadium test

The Evening Standard adds that the first test event could be a training session on 16 March while the second one, a week later, would need to be close to the stadium’s full capacity of 62,062.

The club could also host a Champions League tie at the new stadium should they be given a second leg home tie in the quarter-finals of the competition which is on 16-17 April.
