Latest Tottenham news: Jermain Defoe compares Alfredo Morelos to Harry Kane

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has scored a few goals for his new club Rangers under Steven Gerrard.

The Englishman joined the Gers on loan from Bournemouth and has done a decent job up-front. The striker isn’t the only one in great touch at Ibrox with Alfredo Morelos scoring goals for fun this season.

The 22-year-old has 25 goals in all competitions for the Gers, and Defoe compared the Colombian to Harry Kane (h/t Sky Sports):

“I knew about him before but you don’t realise how good he is till you see him train and you see him in games. The sky’s the limit for him. If he played in the Premier League, he would score goals.”

The Englishman further spoke about his time with a young Kane and how the Spurs star has done some incredible things so far:

“At Tottenham, when we had Harry Kane as a youngster, I remember saying that I believed he should play more and that he would go on to score a lot of goals for the club.

“What he has done is unbelievable. And I think Alfredo’s got that. When you’re a natural goalscorer, you can score goals at any level in any league.”

Kane breaking record after record

Defoe is right in suggesting that Morelos has the same fire in him as Kane when it comes to scoring goals. However, the Colombian is a bit hot-headed and has a few red cards to his name this season.

Kane, for his part, keeps breaking records and he proved his ability on the big stage by winning the Golden Boot at the World Cup.

The England captain missed several games this season due to an ankle injury, however, he returned to the Spurs team against Burnley.

Although Spurs could not get the win, Kane scored our only goal of the game and seems set to battle for the Premier League’s Golden Boot too.
