Latest Tottenham news: Mauricio Pochettino apologises to referee Mike Dean
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has apologised to Premier League referee Mike Dean for his outburst after the 2-1 loss to Burnley.
Sky Sports reports that the Argentine was charged by the FA over his behaviour at Turf Moor and the manager will not request a personal hearing, even though the association confirmed that there would be an independent commission.
Pochettino accepted the charges by the FA and said (h/t Sky Sports):
“I apologise to Mike Dean. I cannot behave in that way and of course, I apologise.
“Watching my behaviour afterwards on video, I need to accept the charge from the FA. I need to apologise to Mike Dean, I cannot behave in that way. It is not the way to behave.”
The Argentine added that his behaviour was public and he wanted to apologise in a public manner, and to all the officials.
Dean replaced for Tottenham’s game
The referee was removed from the fourth official’s role in our clash against Chelsea and instead given the same role in the game for Manchester City in midweek.
Pochettino was furious with some of the decisions in the 2-1 loss to Burnley, especially the one where the hosts scored from a corner.
The manager had to be taken away from Dean after he confronted the referee, but the Argentine refused to share what he said in the heat of the moment.

The FA claims (h/t Sky Sports) that this isn’t a standard case with set sanctions and even if the manager accepts the charge, an independent panel will decide what the punishment would be.
