Tottenham transfer news: Fernando Llorente wants to retire at Athletic Bilbao
Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has revealed that he wants to retire at former club Athletic Bilbao.
The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the season but played several games after Harry Kane’s injury against Manchester United.
Llorente scored the winner against Watford and even found the back of the net in our 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
However, former Bilbao striker told Radio Marca (h/t Football.london) that he would like to retire at his former club:
“There was a lot of talk about my possible departure to Athletic but seeing the injuries that Tottenham had, I knew it would be complicated.
“It would be nice to retire at Athletic.”
Llorente providing the good this season
The Spaniard has seven goals in all competitions this season with three assists to his name. This is a decent return for a player that only has three Premier League and two Carabao Cup starts to his name in the campaign.
The former Swansea man provides us with a target to aim for, however, that hasn’t always worked for the best under Mauricio Pochettino.
Llorente leaving at the end of the season would not be the biggest loss for the side, but we need to sign someone who can provide cover for Kane and also give him competition.

Spurs have played Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura as forwards in place of the Englishman, and it will be interesting to see what our activity is in the summer window.
