Tottenham transfer news: Tottenham target Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo
Tottenham are looking at competition for Harry Kane in the summer as Fernando Llorente seems set to leave once his contract is over (h/t Football.london).
The Spaniard did a great job during Kane’s absence from the team, however, Mauricio Pochettino has set his sights on Maxi Gomez of Celtic Vigo, according to the Sunday Mirror (h/t Football.london).
The report adds that the 22-year-old was linked with a move to West Ham in the winter window. Gomez has been in decent touch for Celta with nine goals and five assists from 22 La Liga games.
The Uruguayan striker is also being seen as a replacement for Luiz Suarez at Barcelona, and the report claims he would cost around £45m to sign from Celta.
Big shoes to fill in for Gomez
It would be difficult seeing Gomez start games in place of Kane. There is no doubt that Kane is our leading striker and anyone coming in would cover for him in certain games.
Mauricio Pochettino has experimented with the side this season playing Son Heung-min alongside Kane in certain games, and it has worked more often than not.
Vincent Janssen struggled to fit into the scheme of things at Spurs, while Llorente has only come good this season while not exactly starring during the previous campaigns.

Spurs didn’t sign any players in the previous two transfer windows, something which cannot continue once the season ends.
