Latest Tottenham news: Some Tottenham fans target Trippier after own goal against Chelsea

Tottenham’s hopes of winning the Premier League all but ended against Chelsea as we succumbed to a 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs were coming off a defeat at the hands of Burnley, but this loss could hit the team hard given that Chelsea had a greater number of chances to score.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side looked a little wary of the threat possessed by a Chelsea team that had lost to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Gonzalo Higuain hit the post in the first half and Harry Winks also saw an effort come off the crossbar as Willy Caballero started in place of Kepa Arrizabalaga for the hosts.

A horror moment for Kieran Trippier

Pedro opened the scoring in the second half as he shot through Hugo Lloris’ legs. The Chelsea winger made light work of our defence and our captain could have done better to keep the ball from going in.

Tottenham tried to mount a comeback but it was not to happen, and there was more to come from Kieran Trippier as he passed the ball towards Lloris but missed the keeper.

To the horror of the Spurs team, the ball trickled into an empty net giving Chelsea a 2-0 lead. Tottenham now sit nine points behind Liverpool and are only four points ahead of Arsenal, who lie in fourth place.

Trippier has had an average season after his World Cup heroics, and the Englishman has made several mistakes too.

Many fans weren’t happy with the performance, and they wanted Trippier out of the side.
