Tottenham transfer news: Real Madrid have doubts over Mauricio Pochettino
Journalist Duncan Castles believes that Real Madrid have a couple of other options for their manager’s position and Mauricio Pochettino faces a fight to become the new boss at the La Liga club.
The Daily Star reports that Pochettino has been linked with the Real job, however, a former manager is in the running to replace Santiago Solari.
Solari took over from the sacked Julen Lopetegui, but things haven’t been great at the club, especially in the league. Castles was speaking on the Transfer Window podcast and claimed there could be a couple of stronger candidates for them when compared to Poch (h/t Daily Star):
“Jose Mourinho was offered the opportunity to come back to Madrid this season while he was still at Manchester United and turned it down. He’s obviously now available.
“Massimiliano Allegri, who may well be coming to the end of his period at Juventus, was also of interest – great interest from Madrid in the summer. So he could be on the market.”
Castles added that Florentino Perez might choose one of the two rather than Pochettino, and claimed the Argentine has a fight on his hands to be in the running for the Madrid and Manchester United jobs.
Pochettino is the best option for Tottenham
This would come as good news for Tottenham fans as Pochettino is the best manager we could hope for at the moment.
The Argentine has done a wonderful job with a squad that hasn’t seen any new faces in two windows. Yet, we are still competitive and have done well in the Champions League too.
Our recent form has been disappointing but we are Champions League regulars now and have to take the next step, which is winning trophies.

Pochettino is one of the best in the world and it comes as no surprise that some of the other top clubs are also after him. Thankfully, he is one of ours and let’s hope he stays here for several years.
