Latest Tottenham news: Fans worried after Harry Winks’ injury against Dortmund
There were great celebrations from the Tottenham team and fans after their win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Spurs did a great job in Germany coming out with a 1-0 win in the second leg and a 4-0 win on aggregate.
Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and the entire defence did a great job but there was one moment of concern when Harry Winks had to be subbed.
The midfielder was replaced by Eric Dier in the second half, and the Evening Standard claims that the Englishman’s injury will have to be assessed.
Injury woes for Tottenham
The Englishman has been one of the stars for Tottenham this season, but like most of our players, he has suffered several injuries.
The report adds that the problem could be a hip and groin injury, and Winks was hopeful that the problem wasn’t severe (h/t Evening Standard):
“We’ll asses it today and see how bad it is, but nothing too serious.”
The 23-year-old didn’t play in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal, and hopefully, he will return to the side for our trip to Southampton at the weekend.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino would not be on the touchline as he serves a ban. The Argentine was handed a two-match ban after his altercation with Mike Dean in the 2-1 loss to Burnley.
However, Winks picking up the injury was a concern to some fans, and some even blamed their luck this season.
Hopefully Harry winks ok. He seemed to point to his groin or hip. Unfortunately Spurs squad is so thin they could only bring on a player that’s captained England 🏴 in the last 12 months 🙄

Let’s hope Winks isn’t out for too long! #THFC #COYS

Harry Winks has become on our most important players, will be interesting to see how we do now without him #COYS

Sad for Winks as he was coming into the game well but I am so happy to see Eric back in white #coys. Also, Sanchez having such a strong game

Plenty of our top players have suffered bad injuries. Rose, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Kane, Winks.
Lamela returned from his hip problem 18 months ago. Can’t really blame that anymore.

Another injury. Seems we get one back and then lose another. Squad has taken a right battering this season. #Winks

and as soon as things look good another injury for Winks. This season has been crazy.

Harry Winks injury would represent a big blow to #Spurs at a critical time of the season. Dier’s return is timely but Winks always offers more going forward. #BVBTOT #BVBTHFC
