Latest Tottenham news: Mauricio Pochettino shares what he is permitted to do during touchline ban
Mauricio Pochettino will serve a two-match touchline ban after his altercation with Mike Dean. The Tottenham manager was furious with the referee after the 2-1 loss to Burnley.
Pochettino will not be on the touchline against Southampton and Liverpool, and the boss explained what he is permitted to do.
Speaking ahead of the game against the Saints, Pochettino was told by the club’s director of football operations Rebecca Caplehorn what he can do (h/t Football.london):
“Yes [he can use a phone]. We can communicate. I’m going to put a mannequin with my face on on the bench, so the players say ‘the gaffer’s there’.
“I’m allowed to go to the changing room and everything. I’m just not allowed to be sitting on the bench. It’s so strange.”
Pochettino was also told that Jesus Perez might turn off his phone. The Argentine laughed if off before claiming that he has complete trust in the Tottenham assistant manager.
Pochettino to behave in the stands
The manager claimed that he would behave when seated in the stands. Pochettino added that he was in shock when told about the ban which came just before the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.
The report adds that Pochettino is considering an appeal against the FA’s decision but is waiting for the written reasons for his punishment, which are yet to arrive.
